Rob Davies from Cadiz, Spain sends in these great photos of his 1957 Q 4 G / C.
Thanks for these great photos and story Rob
As for fuel we got through 260 euros worth, so at about 97 cents to the litre, I guess the truck used 275 ish litres of unleaded plus 10 euros worth of lead treatment.
Pretty good going I think.
Rob recently completed a trip from England to Spain and send in the following report;
‘I'm now back home after the trip across Spain it was really great. The route started in Hastings in England where I spent a few days getting the old boy ready, mostly oil changes and cleaning up.
Then 90 miles along the coast to Portsmouth, where we loaded on to the ‘Pride of Bilbao’ super ferry and then a sea cruise back to Spain.
Monday 30th reached Bilbao and hit the road, short stretch of motorway out of town then found the much nicer A and B roads giving an easy pace through the beautiful country of Northern Spain. Very mountainous, the way was steep and twisting.
On and up to the meseta, the central high plains of Castil and Extramadura, wide open views and long straight roads.
Then back into the mountains of Andalusia and at last back home to the farm for a drink and a rest.
All together about 800 miles in 4 days driving, mostly on 1950s type roads. The truck got home strong as ever except for a leaking / rusty brake line to the rear axle. So I had to keep an eye on the fluid level and the horn gave up on the first day on the road.
