The Rootes Brothers were known for their fairly conventional approach to car and truck design and construction. They were great at making use of shared technology between the cars and trucks with Commers and later Karriers making use of engines that also appeared in equivalent car models. The two standout motors that were the exception to this were of course, the two two stroke opposed piston diesels, the TS3 and TS4.
