Keith Lister from East Yorkshire purchased UWV560 - a Commer Mk IV 1960 - 86A Fire engine with Miles coach work in October 2005 and has already commenced the restoration. Most other surviving Miles fire appliances are earlier model Commers so this makes this vehicle a little special.

Originally the appliance was a non - runner but Keith has recently got the engine running and it is sounding good.

On the transporter at the farm in Northallerton, North Yorkshire where the appliance was purchased. "Hopefully its last ride on a recovery vehicle" says Keith!

Backed into its new home on the coast at Withernsea East Yorkshire where restoration is already underway.

Note the bell in neat its recess at the front!

Front grille, head lamp and bumper removed to allow repairs to front panel corrosion and new water hoses.

Some of the bits removed with restoration underway

Shot of the interior showing some of the work ahead of Keith. I'm sure he will be inspired by David Kent's efforts in bringing his Commer back to 'better than factory' condition!

Shot of the rear showing some of the gear still in place on the appliance.

UWV 560 recently had to leave its home. Fortunately, storage was found nearby. This shot shows it leaving the farm it had been stored at, for the last time.

Keith backing UWV 560 into its new home among some other mates!

Keith’s Commer at its first rally. It attracted a lot of interest from attendees at the rally.

Keith is shortly to start work on restoring the bodywork although he intends to keep the Commer on the road as he does this.
